West Virginia, USA: During a walk with its owner, the dog disappears in a sinkhole, but is rescued.
He is about to end up run over, his mother saves himA walk that ended in dismay in West Virginia, when an owner had walked, as usual, his free four-legged friend to Marilla Park in the past few days, but suddenly he had lost sight of the dog named Macy in the ice. The animal, an 11-year-old Labrador, had disappeared, as if evaporated and there were no more traces of him.
The search began immediately after the owner desperately alerted law enforcement, the local fire department and an animal welfare organization, Stretor AnimalControl, which inspected the area also known for its presence of sinkholes, of the more or less deep superficial cavities.
And in fact Macy had ended up in a sinkhole, covered by the ice of the latest snowfall and here it remained trapped for hours and hours until it did was found by another dog, a chocolate labrador named Wrigley.

Wrigley arrived at the exact spot where Macy had been swallowed in the cavity, barked alerting the rescue that he had found something. Wrigley had identified Macy, who was stuck in the ice, but thankfully still alive.
After digging in the ice, the firefighters dropped into the sinkhole and pulled Macy out, hauling her up with a rope. The dog was rushed to a veterinarian who ascertained the state of health and declared him out of danger after almost a day spent in the frozen cavity.

While Macy is finally back home, Stretor AnimalControl warns all other dog owners not to go to that area until it is secured and to always lead the dog on a leash to avoid unpleasant events, just like this one. here.
According to the authorities, Marilla Park "is built on mines" and venturing there, between snow and ice, is risky not only for people, but also for animals, as evidenced by the story of Macy which ended fortunately in the best way.
