If the ultimate goal is to safeguard public hygiene, in reality their proliferation makes the search for a corner where Fido is tolerated really exhausting.
Signboards of bathing ban for animals, in fact, they pop up everywhere, although in this regard it would be enough to enforce the current legislation that obliges owners to keep their animals on a leash and to collect their excrements. But beware: not all bans are legal and regulated.
The EARTH association advises dog owners to check that the municipalities have issued an order providing for a motivated ban, the hourly extension of the ban and that it is signed by the mayor, by a delegated councilor or by the commander of the traffic police, and published in the magistrates' registers of the individual municipalities.
If one of these indications is missing, the ordinance itself is invalid. In addition, the signs that provide for this prohibition must bear the order number on the back municipal reference and the expiry date of the ordinance which, as an urgent and contiguous act, is not valid indefinitely.
"If you are asked to leave the beach with your dog - explains Valentina Coppola, president of EARTH - make sure you have the right to do so, otherwise any possible fine can be challenged before the justice of the peace and therefore contestable without being paid in advance. " Having said that, it is still a good idea for owners to ensure that their animals do not disturb swimmers, do not dirty and do not cause inconvenience, as rules of civil life that should be respected by all.
