He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him A symptom that may seem trivial and harmless, but which could actually save the life of your dog or cat, if detected. It's about resting your head against the wall. If your pet leans his head against the wall without moving, run to the vet.

This is the appeal for owners launched on Facebook by Steunpunt voor Dieren, a Dutch association for the protection of animals. But why? The explanation is particularly alarming. Apparently a dog or cat that pushes its head against a wall (or whatever) for no apparent reason (such as playing or scratching) could be suffering from brain injury, poisoning, tumor, infection, or many other diseases.

This behavior may seem mundane, funny, and even likeable, and it's often too late to realize that it could be something serious. In fact, it would indicate a neurological symptom that must be investigated and which can have various causes. It's called Head pressing (compulsive act which consists in pressing the head against a wall or an object for no apparent reason).

This is why it is important contact the veterinarian as soon as possible, who will be able to advise you on what to do, recommending a neurological examination and excluding other causes before doing an MRI. Meanwhile, the association's post has gone viral, spreading like wildfire on Facebook in a few days.

We remind you: if yours dog or cat presses their head against a wall or object, it's time to see a vet to rule out serious illness.
