However, did you know that the amount of water needed for the proper functioning of our body can change according to age? Let's see more specifically. How much water do you need to drink each day based on age?

The human body is made up of over 70% water. It is essential for the tissues, for digestion, for the absorption of nutrients and for the proper functioning of the cardiovascular system. For this it is necessary to drink the recommended liters of water per day, especially according to different ages:

Babies are often more vulnerable to temperature changes because their skin is thinner and this condition risks making them lose a lot of water during the day. Being well hydrated is crucial for a baby, as this also affects her cognitive abilities.

  • Children between 4 and 8 years they should drink approx 1,6 liters of water every day.
  • Children of 13 years they have to drink approx 2,1 liters of water per day. The little girls of the same age, on the other hand, they can also take some 1,9 liters.
  • From 14 years on, women they should drink 2 liters of water per day. In the case of meninstead, the daily amount needed increases to 2,5 liters. Many times dehydrated adults are unaware of it because they are not thirsty, but the prolongation of this condition can lead to the development of diseases. Adults need to pay attention to the different symptoms that appear when dehydrated, including dry mouth, constipation, decreased appetite or agitation.

  • It is also recommended that you increase your water intake when constantly taking physical exertion, because up to 2 liters of water can be lost every hour. Digestion will be improved and constipation decreased, cramps and kidney stones are also reduced.
