    Making a product for the home with your own hands, as we have already seen in ours guide to do-it-yourself detergents it is rewarding, useful and economical. Not only that: it can become sustainable in environmental terms, if you know the ingredients. In the case of the dishwashing liquid - by hand or in dishwasher - just a few lemons, a glass of vinegar, some fine salt and ... the secret of each recipe: a little patience!

    Here is therefore a valid alternative to the classic mix of chemical compounds that the market offers. First get yourself a blender, or, even better, a good one electric blender. You will then need one pot, for an dispenser, for an knife, for an colander, for an ladle and obviously a container for your detergent. It is best to use a old 1 L drum, both for the convenience of the spout and because it is the right amount of liquid (don't expect to produce industrial doses!).

    Below is the shopping list to carry out about 0,5 L of 100% ecological detergent (therefore to make a liter you will have to double the doses):

    • 8 lemons (organic, don't cheat!);
    • 800 mlwater;
    • 300 gr sale;
    • 200ml vinegar;

    Do you have everything? Well, first of all, boil the lemons in the pot as if they were potatoes, until they become a kind of soft meatballs (the rule also applies to lemons: pierce them with a fork to test their consistency; if the teeth sink easily, it's time to put out the fire). On the internet there are many recipes that read "cold blend the lemons". Experience will teach you that it is much better to make them boil first - seeing is believing.

    At this point, cut the lemons into small pieces. It doesn't matter whether they are washers, cubes, or whatever; the operation serves only to facilitate the blender / blender. Once the seeds have been eliminated, use the technology at your disposal to reduce everything to a fine pulp. There kitchen at this point it will be pretty messed up, but know that the finish line is near.

    Check out now smoothie texture: if you have boiled well and / or if your blender was in perfect shape, skip the filtering. You will undoubtedly have a thick and uniform juice. If, on the other hand, it seems appropriate, use a sieve with not too dense meshes. Then pour the mash into the 800 ml of water, and add the 200 ml of vinegar and the 300 g of FINO salt. Boil everything, but without too much distraction (the danger is that the contents will overflow, put out the fire and who knows what else). Mix the quasi-detergent with a wooden ladle, until you seem to have obtained the right consistency (NB: your detergent must go through a thin nozzle, so the right consistency = neither too liquid nor too thick). At this point you should have approx 500 ml of excellent 100% ecological detergent and as much self-produced. Once it has cooled, pour it into the keg and ... well, you could even drink it if you like! Easy isn't it?

    You just have to find the nearest nursery and buy one sapling of lemons! What are you waiting for ?!
