But if we want to make the taste of our fresh tap water even more pleasant on the palate, or be sure that it is filtered correctly, here is a truly brilliant solution to create a "home" do-it-yourself system to treat water. And also to creatively recycle our old PET bottles. This is “Bottlefilter“, an idea of David Rainbird which allows you to “kill two birds with one stone”, combining the creative recycling of plastic and the creation of a very simple domestic water treatment system.
“Bottlefilter” is a kind of DIY water filter jug and to build it you need very little material and just as little time. All you need is a bottle PET da 2 liters it's a classic purification filter, easily available on the market.
Armed with scissors or saw, we just have to cut it 3-part bottle, as shown in the figure, at the base of the neck and just above the middle. By making a hole in the lower part of the bottle, where the filter will be inserted, the "preparation" phase is concluded.
All that remains is to reassemble the pieces in the way David illustrates and fill ours DIY eco-carafe lots of good tap water! The same procedure can also be applied to glass bottles, but not without specific tools that are difficult to find at home and, in any case, if you have never cut glass, it is advisable to avoid it.
