Distance learning every day in kindergartens is absurd (and pure utopia)

Many schools, especially state schools, have also activated dad in sync for children. But is it really a good solution?

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Many schools, especially state schools, have also activated dad in sync for children. But is it really a good solution for such young children?

Red zone and it's immediately DaD! As many as 11 Regions plus the Autonomous Province of Trento are now back in the higher risk range. This means that there will be limitations in a bit on all sectors and that distance learning continues for our children. The beauty is that many schools, especially state schools, have also activated the dad in sync for children.

The novelty of this new round of the red zone, in fact, is that they are educational services for children are also suspended, that is the nests and the micronids, the spring sections and supplementary services such as play spaces, centers for children and families, educational services in the home context, however named and managed.

While the school and didactic activities of elementary, middle and high schools, technical institutes will take place exclusively remotely, that same dad is also going to be served up to kindergarten classes. So to children ranging from three to six years. But is this the solution?

No, Dad for preschools is not the solution

Dad and kindergarten are two concepts that screech, out of tune, make dog and cat in a chaos of "eh, but this was the only solution" that echoes loudly in the mothers' chats. We have the distinct feeling, however, that it really has nothing to do with it a 3/4/5 year old child in front of a PC doing remote teaching.

In just a weekend there have been more messages on parents' whatsapp than since smartphones have existed. On the other hand, in excited defense of the Father's Day job, in impetuous support of the Easter job, many teachers (and we appreciate their courage) are throwing themselves headlong into these hours to save what can be saved.

From today Dad for everyone! And if the child is not present, the parents "must send the preventive absence via the institutional email". That is they must justify the absence, as for example arranged through a circular from a school in Rome (and imagine many others):

Distance learning every day in kindergartens is absurd (and pure utopia)

But are kindergarten children saved with Dad? It looks more like a patch to us, actually.

What we ask ourselves is: Dad is already difficult for older children, what's the point of proposing it for the lower classes?

  • There is no contact, what children need. Which does not mean being hugged or kissed - stuff that in any case with the restrictive measures would not be possible - but it underlies that mechanism whereby I as a child - who many times already find it hard to leave to go to school - I need the gaze of the teacher to understand what to do (and not to do), my friend's voice to reassure me, some scissors and some glue on my table to understand that today I'm about to do a great job that will make me grow.
  • There is no gradual growth, every day that passes is a lost day. Let's not turn around. The child needs time dedicated to him at 360 degrees, every day and every holy day. Spending mornings trying to click on a link (and it must necessarily be an adult who has to do it, who is undoubtedly already busy with his work), listening to the metallic voice of the teachers, the din that others make when they leave the microphones on, the cameras off, the connection that is or is not there (and let's not forget that for many families it can also be difficult to have a connection and a PC), it is not school.
  • In the sections of childhood these are the areas that are explored: the self and the other; body and movement; images, sounds, colors; speeches and words; knowledge of the world. How do you see this thing here in dad? From the point of view didactic It is very unlikely that a collaborative environment can be recreated online in all these wonderful disciplines and that mum or dad will be able to replace a teacher.
  • The kindergarten is the school of attention, of the organization of spaces, of the times of the educational day and of experience. All contexts that put the work of children, actions and their languages at the center of learning. The school must be really good at doing this through Dad for an indefinite period ...
  • And but there are the parents! And no, this is where we are wrong. The mistake is that it was decided to entrust the onerous task of to the parents replace the school. The point is that you are convinced you can do it 100% and this is where the donkey falls!

According to the newly launched family package, until June 30th employees can apply to work in smart working for as long as children under 16 are home from school (the request can be retroactive).

Only in the event that it is not possible to work in agile mode, it will be possible to ask to take advantage of a leave that is paid at 50% for those with children under 14 years of age. Smart working and leave can be requested by parents alternatively, for a period equal to the entire duration of the suspension of school activity in the presence of the child. And not only that: the extraordinary parental leave (retroactive from 1 January 2021) and the babysitting contribution are reserved for the categories of workers who carry out activities that cannot be done from home (Read also: Parental leave and babysitter bonus, are due to those who do you work in smart working?).

  • Finally, and we have said it many times, screens hurt and I can't stand still in front of them! Many studies claim that all digital devices with screens change children's brains. In particular, a research has observed a reduced integrity of the white matter, which makes communication between neurons efficient. Drastic? We do not believe.

The petition

ASSONIDI Confcommercio has launched this petition to ask not to close the nursery schools.

  • Because children need to be among peers in safe and secure environments
  • Because without a nursery and kindergarten, work stops
  • Because the school of all levels must be considered as a essential service

We also sign!
