Two legends shake hands in the name of the same cause, the defense of the monkeys. Leonardo DiCaprio and primatologist Jane Goodall have joined forces to launch a vegan clothing line to support primate conservation.

With the evocative name "Do not Let Them Disappear”(Let's not let them disappear), the clothing line was born from the collaboration between the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation and the Jane Goodall Institute, which works to protect chimpanzees and other primates.

To announce the forthcoming marketing of the Abit it was DiCaprio himself via Instagram, explaining that the line is meant to raise awareness, while also supporting the teams in the field working to save these species.

The line offers organic t-shirts, a hooded sweatshirt and a fleece crewneck, all characterized by a unique design and the words “Do not Let Them Disappear”. The clothes are designed to honor the 5 most iconic species: gibbons, chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas and orangutans. They will only be on sale for two weeks.

The statistics on the decline of monkey species are heartbreaking. Each of them is classified by the IUCN as threatened or worse, with gorillas and orangutans classified as endangered.

“Human industries such as agriculture, logging, drilling for oil and gas, mining, dam building and new road construction, as well as climate change, have destroyed and fragmented the monkey landscapes. In fact, over the past two decades, nearly half of their natural habitat has been lost. Tragically, monkeys are also victims of illegal trade and trafficking. If we don't take serious action now, many will face extinction in just 20 years, ”the project website reads.

Proceeds from the sale of the clothes will go to support the protection of the monkey populations and habitats, with the aim of ensuring their long-term survival.

It is estimated that orangutans have lost over 80% of their habitat in the last 20 years, largely due to fragmentation from the palm oil and wood pulp industries. @leonardodicapriofdn and the @janegoodallinst have teamed up to develop a line of apparel to raise awareness for ape conservation and support teams on the ground working to save this incredible species. All proceeds will benefit ape conservation work by our grantees. Swipe to see the apparel design – link in bio to purchase. Available until 11/16.

It is not the first time that DiCaprio and Goodall have collaborated in the name of protecting nature and its inhabitants. When the actor celebrated the 20th anniversary of his founding earlier this year, he was joined by Goodall and actor Mark Ruffalo. At the celebratory auction and gala, the team raised over $ 7 million for climate protection and biodiversity projects.
