Vecchie T-shirt, sheets and pillow cases now ruined, how to reuse them? If you have decided to tidy up your closet and have found some old cotton clothing that you no longer want to wear, you could reuse them to create a woven rug.
Make a woven mat from old T-shirts it is not very difficult, you just need to commit yourself and find some manual skills.
You will need:
Old rather thin cotton T-shirts
Scissors
Sewing machine
Needle and thread
Non-slip base for the mat
First you will have to cut the T-shirts by creating various strips. If you are using T-shirts with a different thickness of fabric, the advice is to cut the thinner T-shirts into wider strips, with which to form braids.
The draft My Poppet, which you can refer to, used 13 T-shirts with a slightly different thickness, consequently obtaining 13 “balls” of yarn. You can proceed starting from the weave and then continue with the seams to complete everything.
Follow this video to understand how to divide the T-shirts into strips.
You can decide to sew the shortest strips of fabric together to obtain strips of the same length and you can still adjust the size of the strips with scissors. By joining the various intertwined parts together, you can decide whether to obtain a round or oval-shaped rug.
The advice to best compose the carpet is to use the sewing machine. This second video it will help you understand how to proceed in making the mat starting from the strips of fabric obtained.
