Those who want to lose weight, and are always looking for some miraculous diet useful to achieve the set goal, can now also add the CRAM diet to the list, a solution to follow for a few days with the aim of losing weight in a fairly simple way using only some foods.
CRAM diet, how it works
It is a restrictive diet which allows you to use very few foods and it is precisely for this reason that it cannot be followed for a long time (maximum 3 days). The risk is in fact that of finding oneself struggling with nutritional deficiencies.
It is therefore generally recommended only to those who have to lose weight quickly in view of an event, after the typical holiday binges or to those who want to see the intestinal function properties improved (although there would probably be better natural remedies to try first!). Finally, there are those who use it as a real short-term dietary treatment for diarrhea and gastroenteritis.
This regimen promises to lose 2-3 kg in 3 days, the problem is that they are mostly liquids.
As you will notice immediately below, taking a look at the short list of allowed foods, this diet (with the exception of milk) completely and unusually excludes proteins. Instead, it favors the use of foods rich in carbohydrates and fibers, these are useful for promoting intestinal transit and that is why those who follow the CRAM diet can see an improvement in a situation of swollen stomach or constipation. The supply of vitamins and minerals is instead ensured by the use of apples.
The CRAM diet is similar to the Brat diet, originally from Latin America. Brat stands for bananas, rice, apple, toast (aka toast).
CRAM diet, what to eat
The acronym already contains almost everything that can eat those who follow this diet:
- C: cereals
- A: rice
- A: My
- M : latte
Granted as condiments extra virgin olive oil, ginger, lemon juice or basil.
The day of those who choose the CRAM diet is rather monotonous:
- Breakfast: apple juice, wholemeal rusks and a glass of skim milk
- Lunch: brown rice with oil, ginger and lemon
- Price: wholemeal pasta with oil and basil
- Snacks: a glass of skim milk or apple (even cooked)
Associated with the diet there must be a good dose of hydration which also has a purifying function. We therefore recommend drink at least 2 liters of water a day.
CRAM diet, contraindications
It is clear that the CRAM diet is not a balanced diet, in fact too many foods are excluded. Furthermore, since it is such a restrictive diet, the risk of failure is high. Even if it should be followed for a maximum of 3 days, the possibility of feeling hungry or monotony in always preparing the same foods, can lead to prematurely interrupting the diet.
Furthermore, the CRAM diet allows for rapid weight loss but it is mainly liquids and therefore, by resuming eating normally, it is easy to gain back pounds just as quickly.
As always, if you intend to lose weight, we recommend that you contact a nutritionist who will customize the most suitable diet based on your specific needs.
