Thanks to a device capable of creating a endless stream of high quality beers, it is no longer a dream to create DIY craft beer at home and with our hands. Her name is PicoBrew Zymatic and an entrepreneur created it former Microsoft executive Bill Mitchell.
Immediately usable even if placed in the hands of beginners, in reality it is also ideal for brewing experts. “A professional can make targeted tests. A beginner can brew beer with any recipe, because it takes talent to invent great recipes. But both parties can benefit from the device ", says Mitchell, who created the PicoBrew brand with his brother and a former Microsoft colleague.
The device, which has an open-source controller, connects to the Internet, downloads the recipes and can optimize brewing cycles. Users simply fill the small container with water, connect the tubes, put the grains in the container of the device called the “step filter”, insert the hops into the cages with the appropriate design, select a recipe and wait.
In less than four hours the unfermented beer will be ready. Once the mixture has cooled, you will need to add the yeast, seal the barrel and wait five days before replacing your self-brewed beer.
There is clearly a large potential market for Zymatic. At the moment, the invention raised more than $ 397 on Kickstarter. Mitchell expects it to be commercially available starting summer 2014 at a price of approximately $ 1999.
