Coronavirus psychosis in China is also affecting pets that are increasingly thrown out of windows or abandoned
It doesn't stop there Coronavirus psychosis which in China is also involving pets, mistakenly accused of being able to carry the virus and for this reason, more and more often, thrown out of windows or abandoned.
Following false reports in China that pets also contribute to the spread of the virus, owners have started throwing cats and dogs out of the windows of their buildings. The chilling images of this ongoing massacre show the bloody bodies of animals left lifeless on the roads.
The situation arose following what was declared by Dr. Li Lanjuan, expert of the Health Commission (NHC), on Chinese state television, CCTV:
“In this epidemic season, pet owners should strengthen the management of their pets. If your dogs run outside and come in contact with the outbreak or people infected with the virus, your pets should also be quarantined. (…) As the epidemic spreads among mammals, we should also take precautions against other mammals ”.
All this has been interpreted by some local media as: "dogs and cats can spread the coronavirus".
The news spread quickly after Zhibo China posted it on the social media platform Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter). In an effort to put an end to these false claims, China Global Television Network released what was stated by the World Health Organization:
"There is no evidence that pets like cats and dogs can contract the new coronavirus."
Q: Can pets at home spread the new #coronavirus (2019-nCoV)?
A: At present, there is no evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs, cats can be infected with the virus.

In the meantime, however, the psychosis had already been created and therefore many animals have died killed by the same people who loved and cared for them a short time before. Indeed, a village in Hebei has invited all families to put down their pets within five days, otherwise state officials would have intervened, a similar situation would also have occurred in a residential committee in Shaanxi.
In Wuhan, the city from which the coronavirus epidemic started, a neighborhood has banned residents from letting their pets out, on pain of capture and killing of the same. In one area of Shanghai, however, a ban on feeding stray animals has been instituted.
More "moderate" pet owners have limited themselves to buying masks for their cats and dogs, the sales of these objects, for animals but also for men, as you can imagine, has skyrocketed. An online mask seller in Beijing said it multiplied its sales by 10 thanks to a model for dogs.
This situation does not help at all to stem the epidemic but on the contrary, as stated by Dr. Peter J. Li, a Chinese specialist of the animal rights organization Humane Society International, it can even harm:
“This is not the right approach for Chinese local authorities to address the national crisis that can be traced to the runaway wildlife trade in local markets. Pets did not contribute to the outbreak of SARS in 2002-2003. They have nothing to do with the Wuhan epidemic. (…) They remove the necessary efforts and resources from the real battlefield ".
