The latest trend in Tik Tok is to cook potatoes directly in the bag. An original and, above all, dangerous cooking method.

Tik Tok it is full of contents dedicated to cooking. Fans, in fact, can indulge themselves with a myriad of recipes truly special, original and surprising, but this time a recent video that went viral really left us speechless.

This is a video clip posted by user Tik Tok @ThreePointTurner who posted his reaction to a method of cooking potatoes not quite orthodox, seen from a December 2017 episode of Guy's Grocery Games, a staple of Food Network. (Read also: Can cooked potatoes be refrigerated or are they toxic?)

In the clip, Grocery Games Judge Carl Ruiz drops a full, unopened bag of potatoes into a pot of boiling water, with the plastic label still intact. A truly unusual cooking method, which makes us wonder if you can boil potatoes directly in the bag.

Obviously this is not a good idea, because in addition to being unhygienic, there is a possibility that the plastics dissolve in boiling water; in fact, putting a plastic bag at such high temperatures could cause the leaching of chemicals in the water.

Although it is not clear whether the bag shown in the video was made of plastic or nylon, which can be boiled and is often used to stuff red potatoes, it is advisable not to use this method and, above all, rinse the potatoes before soaking them in water.

Another useful tip is to inspect them before cooking them, eliminating any roots; once the potatoes are perfectly clean you can proceed with cooking according to your traditional recipe.
