A vision limited, partly flattened by the fact that it is not possible to distinguish the colors and in some cases the shapes. This is what people suffering from colorblindness they are forced to live together. But thanks to Special glasses, some have been able to return to see the world as it really appears. And the reaction was truly moving.
Seeing colors, natural for many. But those who are color blind do not have the same luxury. In fact, he fails to perceive some chromatic differences like that between red and green. It is no coincidence that this disease is considered a form of color blindness.
But now, even if there is no cure, it is possible to allow those who live with this visual defect to perceive them, admiring the beauty of a work of art or a city. EnChroma, for example, has made special glasses with filters that “allow color-blind people to see color for the first time in their life,” explained co-founder Donald McPherson. “The problem is in the eye with photopigments. This is why Valspar is collaborating with Enchroma to give back to all colors ”.
To show their reactions the company has made a video in collaboration with Valspar in which a camera follows various color-blind people as they interact with different brightly colored art installations, wearing glasses. "Colors for Colorblind 'is a short documentary about what happened when we partnered with EnChroma to help people have this experience with colors for the first time" explains Valspar.
“There was a time when other girls made fun of me because I didn't recognize certain feminine undertones and I felt uncomfortable,” says Atlee in the film. Then, the woman points in amazement at a patch of pink paint on the wall, juxtaposed with other bands of color and moved, she reveals: “I had never been able to see this. I just want to cry a little. I never understood how struck I was by not being able to see the world the way other people see it ”. But there is also the young father who admires for the first time the colorful drawings of his son and the man who lets himself be crossed by the installation with the entire spectrum.
The company is starting to focus on helping children, a particularly large population, continually stimulated at school to see and distinguish colors. Due to misdiagnosis, color blind children are often inadvertently labeled as having a learning disorder.
The company has already put for sale their own glasses, whose prices range from 350 to 450 pounds (from 470 to 610 euros approximately).
