Coffee custard: the recipe

ingredients:

  • 500 grams of milk (you can use vegetable milk)
  • 90 grams of raw cane sugar
  • 50 grams of corn starch
  • Peel of 1 lemon
  • 25 gr of restricted coffee
  • 1 sachet of vanillin or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 medium eggs

Pour the milk into a saucepan and insert the lemon peel. Bring to a boil.



Pour 2 eggs, sugar, coffee and vanillin into a bowl. Beat with a whisk until the mixture is frothy.

Sift the cornstarch, pour it into the bowl and mix.

Remove the lemon peel from the milk and pour the freshly prepared mixture into it.

Stir and put the saucepan on the stove, cooking over low heat and stirring with the whisk always in the same direction. 

The cream will thicken gradually, once ready, turn off the stove and pour the mixture into a bowl, covering it with a film. 

Let the cream cool and serve in bowls. 

Coffee custard: variants

Not just coffee, the custard dessert can be enriched with additional ingredients, starting with chocolate. Here are the most delicious variations. 

Coffee and chocolate custard

Coffee and chocolate go together perfectly and you can use both of these ingredients in the preparation of your custard. Just follow the steps of the previous recipe adding, in addition to the restricted coffee, the unsweetened cocoa powder, mixing well. Adjust with the sugar adding more or less depending on the desired sweetness.

Coffee custard without eggs

The coffee custard can also be prepared without eggs, a light version that only involves the use of milk, 00 flour, raw cane sugar, restricted coffee.
