For us, coconut represents an exotic food, a fresh food typical of the summer season that we can find in some supermarkets and that we manage to have more easily available when we are on the beach. During a trip abroad, however, we may have the opportunity to taste local coconuts. Here are the benefits of coconut and why it is such a beloved food.

When we open a common coconut, we can taste its pulp. From the still green coconut is obtained thecoconut water, a particularly thirst-quenching drink rich in mineral salts.

Contains natural sugars, vegetable fibers and amino acids. It is also a source of some vitamins, with particular reference to B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin K.

Coconut contains vegetable fibers and water, but also a fat part, which makes it a very nutritious fruit and at the same time increases the calorie count. In fact it is good to remember that 100 grams of coconut pulp, therefore considering only the edible part, they bring 360 calories.



Health benefits of coconut

The coconut according to natural medicine it has the ability to regulate blood sugars, lower cholesterol and help the body maintain proper hydration, especially if coconut water is also consumed in addition to coconut pulp.

Consumption of coconut also helps improve digestion, supports the immune system, is useful in the defense against viruses and infections and helps regulate the metabolism and to maintain a correct body weight.

Consumption of coconut also supports it development of strong and healthy bones and teeth, increasing our body's ability to assimilate calcium and magnesium. Coconut is also believed to help prevent osteoporosis, a condition in which bones become brittle and lose their density.

Therefore coconut can be considered an important food for those who want to protect their bones but at the same time do not consume or prefer not to consume milk and dairy products (which among other things are a much discussed source of calcium) because they are vegan or lactose intolerant. Finally, for its lauric acid content, coconut is considered beneficial for both the nervous system and the brain.
