Eco-sustainable buildings perfectly integrated into the surrounding environment and luxuriant vertical gardens: we are talking about the projects carried out by Urbanarbolismo, a group of young Spanish professionals who aims to harmonize nature, architecture and urban landscape, combining the aesthetic taste with the energy saving and with the intelligent management of water resources.
Among the latest creations of this team of experts from bioarchitecture there is the project for a ecological auditorium area Carrùs, around the Spanish city of Elche. The "City of Elche" will have the shape of a triangle: inside there will be a wide one concert hall, conceived as an open space, while on the outside a green roof on a slope, very similar to a launch pad, it can act as a open auditorium.
The façade of the ecoauditorium will be lined with plants and leaves, just like a vertical garden, while on the two sides the structure will be entirely covered with glass, so that the sunlight. In this way, the lining will act as passive technology for climate control: during the winter months the heat of the sun's rays can contribute to the heating of the building, while in the summer months the windows will be screened to protect the interiors. The roof, organized like a real one raised garden. In addition, the indoor concert hall will be positioned below street level, in order to be thermally protected, favoring, at the same time, theacoustics.
The building will be covered with plants that need minimal care, choices between the typical vegetation of the Elche area: this is why the auditorium will have to integrate harmoniously into the surrounding landscape, without causing fractures or forcing. L'irrigation will be provided bywater rain specially collected in the tanks located at the edges of the structure. A small courtyard, with some trees rather high that will "guide" the visitor towards the entrance staircase and will give a scenographic and solemn touch to the whole complex, taking the place of a colonnade.
Il "City of Elche" will have a minimal impact on the surrounding area and, at least in the intentions and hopes of its creators, it should contribute to improve the quality of public spaces in the Carrùs area, acting not only as an auditorium, functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also as a precious green area.
