Cher asks the Thai zoo to free the gorilla Bua Noi, locked up alone and for 30 years in a shopping center

Cher asks the Thai zoo to free the gorilla Bua Noi, locked up alone and for 30 years in a shopping center

After freeing the elephant Kaavan, Cher is also mobilizing to save the gorilla Bua Noi locked up in a Thai zoo

Bua Noi has lived for 33 years locked up in the zoo in Pata, Thailand, on the top floor of a large shopping center in western Bangkok. He arrived there in 1987 and has never seen the light again. A story that is indignant in the world and on which the singer Cher has also intervened.

Thanks to his intervention, the loneliest elephant in the world Kaavan is now free. And Cher can't see these horrors. So she mobilized again, this time to ask for the release of poor Bua Noi. The gorilla lives in the Pata Zoo located on the top floor of a department store in western Bangkok.

He is the only gorilla in Thailand after his mate died many years ago. On her Twitter, Cher appealed to residents of the Thai capital to help her on her mission to relocate the animal:

“Good people of Bangkok, I know you will understand and help me stop the torture of innocent animals. It's a shame. Help me bring peace to these animals. And to free them from the Pata Zoo… Shopping Center, ”she wrote in a series of tweets calling for a change.

Bangkok's Pata Zoo opened in the 80s and has two floors that house a wide range of animals, reptiles, birds, and various species of monkeys. Here is also the gorilla.

For years, associations have been demanding the revocation of the zoo's license due to the "inhuman treatment". For this, a petition has also been launched which has already collected almost all the necessary signatures.

The appeal asks to transfer Bua Noi to a Sanctuary and there is already an offer from the Aspinall Foundation for the transfer of the animal.

“Such a relocation would have significant welfare benefits for Bua Noi and sends a powerful message about protecting wildlife and habitats in their countries of origin. This year in April 2020 a fire broke out in the zoo, and think about the mental state of animals during this horrible time! This should have prompted the government to close the zoo which is located in an old and dilapidated building ”.

We too can contribute to the release of the gorilla and to the closure of the zoo by signing the appeal.
