It is about the seats Recaro Opti with the Recaro SmartClick base and of those Jané Tall, who have failed the Altroconsumo tests. In the event of a frontal impact, in fact,

Based on the tests carried out, it was found that the car seat Recaro it detaches from the Isofix base and is thrown into the passenger compartment, while in the case of the child seat Jané the Isofix hooks cannot withstand the forces to which they are subjected in the event of a frontal accident and they open. Already last year, Recaro had replaced the Isofix base with the current one, but without solving anything.

The association contacted the two companies informing them of the crash test results. After reporting, Recaro e Jané have launched an investigation to understand what happened.

What to do if you are already using them?
They should be removed and replaced with safer ones. According to the consumer association, however, the Recaro model is absolutely not recommended because it can only be used with the Isofix base. Instead, the Jané Grand can still be used as a group 2-3 or from 22 kg, to about 6/7 years because it is installed with the car seat belts.

Other car seats also failed the Altroconsumo tests. The first is the Graco Junior Maxi, with the backrest not adjustable in height. For this reason, starting from 22 kg, it can only be used as a simple backsplash.
Among the dangerous seats according to Altroconsumo, we also find the Mifold Graph&go, that all backsplashes offer no protection in the event of a side impact.
even the Foppapedretti Teknofix it is not considered safe since the seat belt goes too high in the abdomen and according to the association there is a risk of causing injuries to the abdominal level in the event of a frontal impact.

We also remind you that from this year it is changed the legislation governing the use of child seats by car. In particular, the changes will affect the R44 / 04 and the R129 (i-Size). The first concerns children under 125 centimeters in height who will no longer be able to travel by car if not using a booster with backrest. However, the R129 will no longer allow the sale of backless car seats.
