The law, which was passed by Governor Jerry Brown last week, will go into effect in January 2020.
The Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Act, signed by over 100 cosmetic companies, adds California to the list of countries that already ban animal testing, such as the European Union, India, Israel and Guatemala. And it marks a first step towards a ban in all US states, or at least hopefully.
