Great news for animals from California. The US state has just passed legislation that will prohibit cosmetic manufacturers from selling products or ingredients tested on animals.

The law, which was passed by Governor Jerry Brown last week, will go into effect in January 2020.

The Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Act, signed by over 100 cosmetic companies, adds California to the list of countries that already ban animal testing, such as the European Union, India, Israel and Guatemala. And it marks a first step towards a ban in all US states, or at least hopefully.

"This is a dream come true“Said Judie Mancuso, founder and president of Social Compassion in Legislation, who fought for the new law to be approved. “I was hoping in life to say goodbye to animal tested products… Leading this effort is the greatest achievement of my life, and we are so grateful to Governor Brown for signing this lifesaving and landmark bill. It's a legacy he and Senator Galgiani can be proud of, and one for the history books as a huge step forward for humanity. "

No more animals poisoned by perfumes and burned by creams and soaps. Thousands of animals have died every year, despite the fact that there are more than 200.000 cosmetic ingredients already available on the market.

Now these animals are safe in California too!

Unfortunately, even if companies will not be able to test ingredients on animals throughout the territories where it is prohibited, they will be able to do so abroad, selling these products in countries like China, where it is mandatory to test cosmetics.
