Baby buffalo dying or already starving, alone and far from their mothers. Because they are not needed, not being able to produce milk. Because they are too expensive to maintain. On the other hand the milk should only be used to make mozzarella it cannot be wasted on feeding them, which represent only an unnecessary burden. We might as well make them perish slowly, without them not even take the "inconvenience" of suppressing them.

The two breeders must have thought this "lager" livestock farms of Villa Literno and Ischitella, in the Caserta area, "La Vecchia Masseria" and "La Mariarosa", placed under seizure by the Port Authority of Naples, with the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere. It is here that the military, together with ASL veterinarians and ARPAC technicians, found animals under the age of fifteen days dead or still dying in stalls without any watering or feeding device, as well as heaps of carrion in putrefaction, some of which still had traces of ropes tied to the legs.

Also found two adult animal heads and various remains of bovine bones. “There is a strong suspicion that some of the leaders were deceased suffering from brucellosis", explained the deputy prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere Raffaella Capasso. Both companies they spilled the sewage directly, without any containment and waterproofing system, in Lake Patria, and from here into the sea. Now the risk is that they could have penetrated into the ground, ending up in the aquifers. This operation, “with strong profiles of illegality in the field of liquid zootechnical waste disposal, public health and animal mistreatment, confirms the close interconnection between these three types of illegality and the transversal competence of each judicial police body in intervening with respect to these areas of violation of the law " , says Maurizio Santoloci, magistrate and director of the LAV Legal Office.

"Full praise should therefore be given to the Coast Guard for intervening in a legal sector in which still other judicial police bodies resist intervening and operating - continues Santoloci - the illegal nature of the management is recognized does not comply with the law of livestock sewage, which has always been a very serious crime in the environmental field, with direct repercussions on public health and pertains to a delicate and complex legal regime within which some still believe that the illegal use of livestock waste is substantially decriminalized or decriminalized ". In the tragedy, therefore, good news. Especially because it illegal disposal of "waste" of industrial processing is unfortunately still very widespread. Be they things or living beings ...
