    In particular, Avis Toscana will disseminate through its 183 offices, present throughout the region, the information brochure on the opportunity and methods ofi donating animals at the “Mario Modenato” Veterinary Educational Hospital, equipped with many outpatient clinics as well as hematology laboratories.

    "The Department of Veterinary Sciences - said Prof. Daniela Gianfaldoni as Director - for over 20 years has been paying particular attention to the sector of Transfusion Medicine, especially thanks to the presence of a state-of-the-art structure such as the Veterinary Educational Hospital of San Piero a Grado, where the skills and the equipment necessary for this type of activity. The collaboration with AVIS, aimed at spreading the culture of donation of blood as a gesture of solidarity in humans and dogs, it will make it possible to sensitize a growing number of people and educate them to perform a simple action that can help other dogs to live ".

    HOW IT WORKS - The veterinarian will carry out a complete clinical visit to assess the suitability of the animal, which must be regularly registered in the Canine Registry, and in the event that it is in possession of all the requirements, will proceed with the blood sampling for typing blood group.



    At the time of donation, i blood donor candidate dogs they will undergo free clinical examination and blood tests. The blood donation is safe and painless and can be repeated every 3 months. If the dog is a donor, in case of need it will receive a free transfusion and the consultation for your problems by the staff of the Veterinary Transfusion Center. As for humans, there are parameters to be respected: the animal must have aage between 2 and 8 years, be in good health and weigh at least 25Kg.
