With its intoxicating scent, blackberry jam without added sugar is the perfect preserve to enjoy the summer all year round, for breakfast or as a snack.

Summer is the ideal time to consume the delicious berries. Among the most popular are blackberries, a summer fruit that grows spontaneously, with extraordinary antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. But how can you enjoy them all year round, including in winter? The best way to savor them is to prepare a blackberry jam at home. It is a rather simple preserve to prepare and which is perfect for garnishing pies, biscuits or simply for breakfast on rusks.

Let's find out how to prepare it in a light version, without using sugar!

Ingredients

  • 500 gr of blackberries
  • 1 apple (preferably organic)
  • 1 organic lemon (preferably organic)
  • half a glass of water

Preparation

First wash and dry the blackberries thoroughly and then cut them into small pieces. Do the same with the apple, first removing the peel, core and seeds. Transfer the blackberries and apple pieces to a bowl, add half a glass of water, the lemon juice and mix with a spoon. Now leave the fruit to macerate in the bowl for about two hours in a cool place. After that, transfer the mixture into a steel pot and cook for about half an hour over low heat, occasionally removing the foam that forms on the surface with a skimmer and stirring constantly. If needed, add a little more water.

When your jam has reached a soft consistency, turn off the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Pour everything into the blender to obtain a more homogeneous mixture. Finally, you just have to transfer the hot jam to the sterilized jars. Close them tightly and place the jars upside down on the table, leaving them in that position until they have cooled completely and the vacuum is formed.

You can keep your blackberry jam in the pantry for about six months. Once the jar is opened, however, consume it within 3/4 days. We are sure that she will already conquer you with her heady perfume!
