    As the directive also states, in fact, if the bottles "are heated under certain conditions, small quantities of BPA can pass from the food container to the food and drinks contained therein and therefore be ingested". In order to "achieve the fundamental objective of guaranteeing a high level of protection of human health, it is necessary and appropriate to avoid the sources of danger to physical and mental health that can be connected to the exposure of children to Bpa through feeding bottles" .

    In article 19, then, we can read: “The Commission has examined the market for baby bottles and has received a report from manufacturers in the sector according to which voluntary industry actions are underway to replace the material; The economic impact of the proposed measure is therefore limited. Consequently, all BPA-containing baby bottles on the EU market must be replaced by mid-2011".
