Biodegradable bags for a fee: the irony of the net

The "bag mania" is rampant. From 1 January the obligation for paid organic bags in the fruit and vegetable department began. In the fruit and vegetable counters of large-scale distribution we will therefore only find organic bags, the cost of which, equal to 2 cents, will be borne by consumers. The decision sparked the ire but also the irony of the web

What does the law say?

We remind you that according to the new law, from 1 January 2018, even light and ultralight bags with a single wall thickness of less than 15 microns with or without handles used for the transport of goods and loose products or as primary packaging in delicatessens, butchers, fishmonger, fruit and vegetable market and bakery, must be biodegradable and compostable according to the Uni En 13432 standard and must have a minimum content of renewable raw material of at least 40% (which must become 50% starting from 1 January 2020 and 60% from January 1, 2021). A sore point is that they will only have to be distributed for a fee.

In the aftermath of the introduction of the obligation, numerous hoaxes and fake news were circulating, with alleged alternative solutions to circumvent the purchase of the bag. Our anti-buffalo article it went viral. We tried to explain what is true and what is pure fantasy. And you have written to us in many, with some criticism but also with a lot of irony.

So let's laugh about it, let's start this 2018 with these nice images:

  • FROM 1 JANUARY ONLY BIODEGRADABLE PAID SHOPPERS IN THE FRUIT AND FRUIT DEPARTMENTS

We always remember to bring the bag with us, because if it is true that the bags in the fruit and vegetable department will be paid for, on the other hand we can avoid buying other bags.
