Books what a passion! And the Bookcrossing it is pushing more and more to reading, taking to the streets, squares and stations free books for adults and children. There are now many solutions of this type present in cities all over the world, but those of Saint Francisco e Seattle they have something special. In fact, they are real traveling libraries installed on the bike.

That's right. While it is true that “fixed” libraries house a large quantity of books, on the other hand they cannot always be reached by everyone. Mobile libraries are trying to overcome this limit by bringing books to areas that have less access to libraries or to those in need.

A few years ago, when the movement was born Little Free Libraries, more and more people of all ages began to have greater access to books. Now, there are more than 15.000 free book stalls around the world, taking books to unexpected areas.

Nonetheless, there are still many people who cannot reach these places. Bus e repurposed tanks they have already tried to fill this gap but they still have a cost. For this Seattle and San Francisco have thought of ecological and economic vehicle par excellence: the bike.

Thus was born the program Books on Bikes della Seattle Public Library, thanks to which three bicycles with trailers driven by librarians carry books around the community. The trailers are also equipped with Wi-Fi so visitors can also sign up, get their library card and browse the catalog.

"Seattle has a really strong bike culture so we decided to tap into it and deliver comprehensive library programs in a more 'agile' way," he said librarian Jared Mills.
