But the idea of ​​enriching the territory with new plants is not only linked to respect for the environment.

    Tenzin Lekphell, who coordinated the initiative, has explained than in Buddhism the tree is considered a source of nourishment for all forms of life. It symbolizes longevity, health, beauty and even compassion, which Buddhists understand as empathy.

    It is not the first time that Bhutan has stood out for having planted a large number of trees in a short period of time. In fact, in 2015 Bhutan itself established a new one Guinness World Record planting nearly 50 trees in an hour.

    On the occasion of the birth of the first-born of the royal family, a new tree was planted in the vicinity of 82 homes in the country, while another 26 trees were planted in the area thanks to the intervention of numerous volunteers.
