In contact with fabrics, some glues for false nails react giving rise to compounds that are dangerous for the skin

Due to the restrictions due to the health emergency in many countries, beauty centers are closed and several girls and women are dedicating themselves to manicures with do-it-yourself methods. Some glues for false nails, although they do not have particular effects on the skin, in contact with fabrics can cause chemical reactions that lead to the formation of harmful compounds.
The reaction between the glues and the wool or cotton is particularly dangerous: if a few drops of glue fall by mistake on the T-shirts, trousers or other garments worn, the underlying skin can suffer burns that sometimes require skin grafts.
The French poison control centers received two serious cases that affected two 20-month-old and two-year-old children, the first with a burn on the wrist and the second with severe burns to the hand and forearm. In both cases, the children got burned following the contact of the glues with the shirts worn and, consequently, with the skin.
The offending glues are easily found for sale both on the Internet and in physical stores and they do not clearly indicate the risk of burns on the label direct or indirect.
ANSES recommends pay attention and keep these products out of the reach of children. The Agency also explains that in case of glue contact with clothing, the affected area should be washed immediately with cold water and soap and recommends that you seek medical attention as soon as possible.
