Xerces Society, a reality that is committed to the protection of pollinating insects, has been putting pressure on the US Fish and Wildlife Service since 2009, which has finally decided to intervene to protect endangered bees.

According to the Xerces Society, this is excellent news for bees, but there is still a lot to do, in the US and beyond.

In addition to bees regarding Hawaii were declared 42 species of plants and animals are also at risk of extinction. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, the main causes are climate change, the disappearance of habitats, invasive species and interaction with humans.

U.S. beekeepers lost about 40 percent of their bee colonies in 2015 alone, a recent survey found. Only this data should make us reflect on the actual dangerous situation of bees.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, one of the greatest dangers for bees is given by the insecticide imidacloprid, widely used in agriculture and considered a threat to pollinating insects.

• Help the associations who are committed to protecting bees
• Collaborate in informative campaign on the defense of bees in schools and universities
