Disastrous images come from a town south of Houston where unknown people have burned dozens of beehives. As local police investigate the incident, beekeepers' indignation over the priceless loss grows.

It happened to Alvin in Texas last Saturday. Someone broke into land where there are hundreds of beehives and set fire to some of them.

According to beekeeper Steve Brackmann 500 to 600 bees died in the fire. Some of the hives were thrown into the pond near the colony.

The farm in question belongs to the Brazoria County Beekeepers Association which has a total of 24 bee colonies.

“It's bad to think that all of this can happen. Throwing away the hives and then setting them on fire is beyond comprehension. The association offers a reward to anyone who provides useful information to find the culprits, ”writes Brazoria County Beekeepers Association on Facebook.
