Because you should never throw used oil down the sink or toilet

Used oil must never be thrown down the sink or toilet because it is highly polluting: it must be disposed of in landfills

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

It seems a harmless gesture to throw the used oil down the sink drain or in the toilet, but in reality it is a very, very wrong behavior.

THEexhausted oil used for cooking and frying, as well as the oil present in foods in oil, is not biodegradable and must be disposed of correctly to avoid polluting the waters.

Each citizen produces on average about 5 kg of used oil per year and more than half is not recovered and disposed of properly. Unfortunately, the habit of throwing used oil down the drain is deeply rooted.

Pouring the oil into the sink, however, is not all the pipes are damaged and the risk of clogging the drains increases, but it creates great damage to the environment.

From domestic drains, oil can reach groundwater becoming a highly polluting agent for cultivated land and drinking water wells, which become unusable.

In addition, the oil causes quite a few problems with water purification systems, as it clogs the implants and slows down the treatment process.

Then when the oil reaches rivers and seas, it forms a patina on the surface of the water, preventing the passage of sunlight and, consequently, altering the balance of ecosystems aquifers.

It is also recommended to do not reuse the same oil for cooking or frying, as during heating vegetable oils oxidize and produce compounds that are potentially dangerous to health.

After each use, therefore, the oil should be disposed of. By now everyone should know it, but unfortunately there are still too many people who get rid of it incorrectly and dangerous for the environment.

Where to throw the used oil?

The simplest method is the collect all the used oil as you go in a plastic bottle to then deliver it to the ecological island of your municipality.

Alternatively, you can recycle the oil to make laundry soap. In this case, the oil must be filtered after use to remove any food residues and divide the various oils by type.
