Barefoot in the woods to detox from technology. In Val di Rabbi snack and books at the entrance in exchange for the mobile phone

In Val di Rabbi (Trentino) a path to detoxify from technology was born. At the entrance, your smartphone is handed over and you receive snacks and books

All of us would need a bit of a healthy "digital detox", or time to completely disconnect from smartphones, tablets and PCs to dedicate ourselves to rediscovering the "real world" and above all nature. In Val di Rabbi there are paths in the middle of the woods specially designed to detoxify us from the technology that invades our lives.

You may remember that last year we told you about the first path in the woods to be covered strictly barefoot, inaugurated in Val di Rabbi (Trentino Alto Adige).

Barefoot in the woods. The first park therapy course is born in Trentino

Now, still in the same valley, it was decided to use the natural heritage as a useful tool for "digital detox". Thus were born some paths in the woods, perfect for all those who want disconnect from new technologies to reconnect with nature, at least for a day.

They were conceived by the Terme di Rabbi in collaboration with the Val di Sole Apt.

How does it work? You will have the opportunity to walk in the beautiful woods of the valley in marked but strictly marked paths without cell phone and watch which must be delivered at the entrance and can only be recovered once the path is finished. In return, however, you receive a backpack with a snack and some surprise books to enjoy the pleasure of reading in the woods, enjoying the calm and surrounded only by the sounds of nature.

All this with the aim of limiting the excessive digitization to which all of us, willy-nilly, are subjected and which was accentuated during the lockdown.

Being always connected is often comfortable and allows us to stay in touch with those we love but, on the other hand, excessive exposure to smartphones and PCs creates physical and mental symptoms similar to drug addiction. A few examples? Increased heart rate, altered sleep-wake cycle, difficulty concentrating, feelings of anxiety and frustration, eyestrain, frequent migraines and decreased productivity.

Do you know how many times we check our mobile every day? According to the research platform Dscout 2600 times on average but the hyper-connected even reaches 5400 times! In short, the fear of staying away from your smartphone is becoming more and more a real disease and is a problem that also affects children and adolescents.

Addiction to video games, smartphones and tablets: it is an alarm for children and adolescents

Thus, in Val di Rabbi, immersed in the Trentino side of the Stelvio National Park, it was decided to create two paths immersed in the woods, useful for a real detoxification therapy, both physically and mentally.

The first is the one already inaugurated in 2019 which from this summer will allow you to experiment with the variant "smartphone free". Those who participate will have the opportunity to follow Kneipp paths barefoot in the woods, meditate, read, listen to the sounds of nature and hug the trees.

A second path will be inaugurated within the year and will be sound type, that is, it will allow you to immerse yourself completely in the unmistakable and super relaxing sounds of the woods.

As explained Fabio Sacco, director of APT Val di Sole:

“The future park, which will rise in the locality of Pozzatine, will consist of seven sound and experiential stations. The idea is to associate each station with one of the 7 Chakras, the energy centers present in the human body according to oriental philosophies ".

In practice, the path will consist of works of art in wood that will emit sounds and amplify the noises of nature. A few examples? Bells hanging from trees that will ring differently depending on the wind or drums made from logs and engraved so that the wood vibrates. Then there will be two huge trumpets that like gigantic ears will "capture" the sounds of the forest and allow you to hear them better.
