Obama and the environment

Environmental policies were largely a part of election promises and politics during the eight years he spent in the Oval Office. There are a lot of them even though over 100 were torn apart during the Trump administration. In 2006 Obama extended the surface of the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument, bringing the reserve to 1,5 million square kilometers. In 2009 he signed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act to perpetually protect several million acres of land located in nine states. Also in the same year he signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act aid package including subsidies to the green economy. In 2011 it signed an agreement with 13 major car manufacturers in order to progressively reduce vehicle consumption by 2025. In March 2014, it signed the first law approved by Congress concerning the protection of natural areas. At the recent COP26, during his speech he addressed the youngest and most fervent protesters of the environmental policies conducted up to now who have encouraged them to move forward by cultivating that anger and frustration useful for not giving up:

To all the young people out there – I want you to stay angry. I want you to stay frustrated.
