Strong, flexible and made with banana plant fibers. It is the new Banantex material
Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerousStrong, flexible and made with banana plant fibers. It is the new material presented on the occasion of Design Week 2019, by the QWSTION bag brand.
Fully biodegradable and capable of replace all plastics adopted until now by the industry, the revolutionary and multipurpose Banantex comes entirely from banana leaves and offers a new option in the search for sustainable materials of plant origin.
Where does the idea come from? From banana leaves that have been used in the Philippines for over a century as boat ropes. After three years of research and development, the bag company finalized the plant-based material.
It is no coincidence that the first Banantex products on the market are backpacks and bags, made completely without plastic.
The bigger goal, however, is for other companies to use Banantex in their own production, spreading the application and eliminating the synthetic materials on the market today. United with a common goal of inspiring responsible product development, the team conceived the idea as an open source project with this in mind.
“The banana leaves used come from a natural sustainable forestry ecosystem in the Philippines. Bananas grow naturally without the use of pesticides or other chemicals. In addition, they do not require the addition of water. Banana plants are an advantage for an area previously eroded by palm plantations, bringing back the vegetation and livelihoods of local farmers, ”concludes the company.
