    Pictures have been around the web shortly after the short video was released, initially shared by the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie.

    Kate, as the koala was called, was found in the forest and runfortunately it brings injuries to the legs, the muzzle and the whole body.

    After offering water to the poor animal, Darrel wrapped him in a blanket and transported him to Koala Hospital, where he is now hospitalized.
    Despite Darrel's concern, the koala arrived at the facility in a state of severe dehydration.

    Hundreds of koalas have been killed and seriously injured in the fires that have spread across Australia in recent weeks.

    Port Macquarie hospital, which is working to recover and care for surviving koalas, is now fully booked and has launched a fundraiser to purchase water stations to be placed in areas ravaged by the flames, habitat of koalas. Thanks to the initiative, the veterinary hospital has already raised over 500 thousand dollars in a very short time.


    The situation for koalas was already difficult before these fires, as these specimens are threatened by rising temperatures, drought, the reduction of their habitat and the introduction of non-native predators.



    After these devastating fires, iThe risk is that koalas become extinct over the next few years and it will be very important to work to protect the remaining population.
