At the London Underground photos of stray cats instead of advertisements to find them a home

In this London underground station, instead of advertisements, there are photos of cats, an initiative to reclaim public spaces.

No advertisements in this one London underground station, for two weeks it is dedicated exclusively to our friends felines. The initiative was born as part of the Citizens Advertising Takeover Service (CATS) campaign and concerns the Clapham Common stop, literally covered with photos of cats, over 60.

The initiative, funded on Kickstarter, was launched by the Glimpse collective, and the cats immortalized in most cases are strays residing in recovery centers, except for some felines "loaned" for the occasion by owners sensitive to the countryside.

The idea comes from the desire to regain possession of the spaces normally dedicated to advertising, which in London alone has one of the highest standards in the world. Just think, as Glimpse points out on its website, that an average Londoner sees up to 5.000 ads every day.

Thanks to the more than 20.000 pounds raised through Kickstarter in less than a month, Glimpse managed to replace 68 advertisements of the Clapham Common station with photos of cats, a project that became viral in a very short time.

Some images that immortalize stray cats also serve to find them a home, Glimpse has in fact collaborated with institutions that deal with adoptions.

And he hopes that the photos, in addition to making travelers smiles and helping cats find a family, contribute to a new awareness, because the things we buy, even if we believe otherwise, do not make us happy. Cats already know!

    Wonderful.
