It is never too late to start with your own book! An American lady at the ripe old age of 101 has published her first collection of poems.

Sarah Yerkes is a lady who is over 100 years old but who is still in great shape (especially mentally) to the point of being able to devote herself to poetry. She has always been a creative person, in her past there are in fact works as an architect and as a sculptor but, in many years, she had never faced the challenge of writing a book.

Well, "Days of Blue and Flame" is her first collection of poems and with this book Sarah has undoubtedly become the oldest newcomer in the world.

The woman, who resides in Washington, began writing only in her 90s, graduated from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design as a young man and had a decade-long career in landscape architecture and sculpture.

It was a friend of the retirement center she attends to encourage her to participate in a creative seminar, thus making her discover a passion for writing and a certain poetic vocation.

“I really feel like good fairies are sitting on top of my cradle, giving me the oomph to create,” Sarah told the newspaper who interviewed her about her book and early seniority record.
