Dylan writes a book - "A Chocolate bar"- to raise funds for Jonah, suffering from glycogenosis type 1B: that is, the liver does not work properly and absorbs sugars not releasing them, with the consequence of a constant risk of hypoglycemia (and in the worst case of coma). And collects one million dollars.
The a mind-blowing and moving thing is that Jonah is 8 and Dylan is 7.
The disease forces little Johan to acontinuous feeding: 12 meals night and day, to prevent your blood glucose from dropping too much and endangering your life. Twelve meals in liquid form, with a tube in the stomach. A pain and a considerable economic expense.
And then little Dylan decides to help his friend and at first organizes a "lemonade banquet”In front of the house to raise some money for Jonah. He succeeds, but a hundred dollars are still low: saving the friend costs a lot more. So here's the brilliant idea: write a book!
The parents initially printed 200 copies of the booklet, but the success went beyond all expectations and the book took off.
It is reprinted countless times and sold in all schools in the 50 states of America and in 42 other countries around the world. Dylan thus earns a million dollars, all donated to the "Shands Children Hospital" of the University of Florida, to help Johan and other children who like him can finally hope for treatment.
