Artificial sweeteners? They just hurt. In particular Aspartame e saccharin they are neither a good solution to avoid weight problems nor a way to keep them at bay glycemia. Indeed: these sweeteners they would be able to alter metabolism resulting in an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.

According to research conducted by Canadian-based York University, synthetic sweeteners help limit calorie intake, though they raise blood sugar. The study was published in the journal Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism.

For this study, data from 2.856 adults who took part in the Third National Health and Nutrition Survey were analyzed. Participants underwent a test to detect glucose intolerance which predisposes to diabetes and it was found that the aspartame contained in sweeteners increases the risk of developing glucose intolerance and, consequently, increases the possibility of developing type 2 diabetes.

This isn't the first time sweeteners have been brought up in the question of rising blood sugar. Another study had already shown that sweeteners are able to alter normal metabolism by raising blood sugar and in some cases, even developing a pre-diabetes condition.

Plus, another research a few weeks ago pointed the finger at the sweetener sucralose, which would be associated with the increase in rrisk of getting leukemia.

In short, believing you can safely replace refined sugar with artificial sweeteners is actually a wrong idea, especially since it is now established that they do not help you lose weight, even if they are zero calories, and do not protect - it is now clear - from diseases such as obesity or diabetes. It is therefore only a deception: those who suffer from obesity or diabetes problems or those who hoped to lose weight thanks to these surrogates, should actually turn to something else. This is the case, for example, of the fresh or dried fruit and stevia, in addition, of course, to the need to probably review one's entire diet ...
