This is what emerges from the data collected by the Federal Government in No.ational Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

In some ways, the food served in U.S. restaurants may be worse than the burgers and fries that have become the symbol of obesity and bad eating habits of the Americans.

According to Professor Ruopeng, an expert at the University of Illinois, people who ate at restaurants got more cholesterol and sodium compared to those who ate fast food.

Between restaurant dishes and fast food foods, the calorie counts were almost identical, but the restaurant dishes contained slightly more vitamins, minerals and fiber and slightly less fat and sugar than served in fast food restaurants.

Le differences however they would be minime. So, according to experts, these results show that eating in a full-service restaurant is not necessarily healthier than eating in a fast food restaurant.
