A family from Tennessee (United States) was renovating their new home when, after breaking down a wall, they found two newborn kittens. One of them in particular immediately attracted their attention thanks to a very rare peculiarity.
This is Apricot, a kitten with a colorful face who, together with her sister Pretzel, was rushed to the Nashville Cat Rescue refuge. Here the two kittens have been accepted by a new mother cat who is now breastfeeding them to make them grow at their best while awaiting adoption by a human family.
As you can see from the photos, the peculiarity of Apricot is to have a face that is half black and half red. It's a bit like two kittens' faces have melted.

Kiki, one of the volunteers of the center, temporarily takes care of Apricot and posts on Instagram many images of the kitten who, in the meantime, has become a real star on social media.

The same girl explained that the reason for the very particular coloring of the cat's face is probably due to genetic chimerism, a very rare phenomenon that occurs when two embryos merge and causes only one being (in this case the cat) to contain cells with two different types of DNA.
Chimeras, explains Kiki, generally also have different eyes but it is too early to say whether this is also the case with Apricot, since she is still too small to see the real color of her eyes. Only a DNA test can really understand if we are facing a chimera.
