It is the first time ever that the WHO has released a report on bacteria most harmful to humans. In total there are 12 divided into three risk categories and the number one enemy is called Acinetobacter baumannii.
Dangerous bacteria, the three categories
The list comprises 12 pathogens which are classified into three categories: highly critical, critical, mean. Il more dangerous it is called Acinetobacter baumannii, then there is the Pseudomonas aeruginosa and in third place the Enterobacteriaceae.
Three versions of bacteria that resist antibiotics more structured and constitute a real danger, because they are carriers of infections to the lungs and blood such as pneumonia and septicemia.

The second category is that of critical bacteria, also able to resist drugs such as Staphylococcus aureus, Gonorrhea and Helicobacter pylori which nestles in the stomach.
Finally, the bacteria of medium criticality they are those like Streptococcus pneumoniae that can resist penicillin and Emophilus influenzae that are resistant to ampicillin.
The list, explains WHO in collaboration with the University of Tubingen, should be used by governments to implement policies and investments that incentivize thetargeted search, and was drawn up on the basis of various parameters, from lethality to diffusion.

“It is a tool to ensure that research responds to the most urgent needs of the public health. Antibiotic resistance is on the rise, and we are running out of options. If we leave it to the market alone, the new drugs we need will not be ready in time, ”he explains Marie-Paule Kieny, WHO executive.

Highly critical: Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacteriaceae
Critics: Enterococcus faecium res, Staphylococcus aureus, Helicobacter pylori, Campylobacter, Salmonella, Neisseria gonorrhoeae
