To the great satisfaction of the animal welfare associations, the implementing decree of the Minister of Infrastructures and Transport was published in the Official Gazette No. 217. “The law took note of the change in the common feeling on duty to assist animals as well and the sanctions imposed to date for violations have been a positive example for motorists and local police forces ”, said Gianluca Felicetti, LAV president and Carla Rocchi, national president of ENPA.

"In the decree we were able to include - explain the two presidents - the full recognition of the private citizen who brings an accidented animal to a veterinary clinic for civic duty, the need for intervention also for the purposes of protecting public safety and full recognition of the activity of the zoophile guards. Now the Regions and Municipalities must strengthen their intervention tasks already provided for by other regulations ".

The ministerial decree also establishes, among other things, the characteristics of veterinary ambulances, whose specific equipment will be identified by the Ministry of Health, the subsequent certification of the state of need for intervention on the animal by a veterinarian and the pathological states that trigger this recognition, i.e. severe trauma, open wounds, bleeding, alterations and convulsions.
