A documentary on the challenges ofglobalized agriculture, against GM and in favor of natural products. Alsatian Resistance is a medium-length film by director Jonathan Nossiter (extracted from the film Natural Resistance), which wants to invite us to reflect on the consequences of globalized agriculture in the production of natural wines.

The documentary aims to show the events of 2 of the most important French natural winemakersthe. The events recall what happened in 2010 in Alsace, in the locality of Colmar. Here was the Inra's GMO vineyard (National Institute of Agronomic Research) which was partially uprooted by 54 volunteers.

The "voluntary reapers" were sentenced to reimbursement of 57 thousand euros for having rebelled against the experimentation of GMOs. Just last year the French Court of Appeal ruled illegal the decree that allowed Inra to plant transgenic vines. After a long wait, the people who had uprooted part of the GM vineyard were acquitted.

“It seems that the Court really listened to us and that it became aware of its role by saying that the ministerial authorization was illegal. We feel our battle is worthwhile. It is an important sign at the time of the hidden negotiations of the transatlantic free trade treaty between the EU and the US "- he explained Jean-Pierre Frick, spokesman for the collective of Volunteer Mowers after the acquittal.

It is feared that with the TTIP GM crops are authorized, now banned in Europe. The director tries to shed light on a very delicate issue, linked to the cultivation of vineyards for the production of wine in a natural way and to the possibility that the wine sector is threatened by GMOs.

Jonathan Nossiter is the author of six feature films, two of which are dedicated to the world of wine: Natural Resistance (2014, presented at the Berlin Film Festival) and Mondovino (2004), nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes - one of only 3 documentaries in history of the festival.

The documentary will be presented il February 14 2015 a Piacenza Expo for the seventh edition of Sorgentedelvino LIVE, an event dedicated to natural wines that will continue until February 16th.
