He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him. They are not photomontages but of extravagant optical illusions created by Alex Chinneck, an English artist loved precisely for his extravagance clearly visible in these images. They are temporary installations that the lucky ones will have been able to observe in and around London. Among all, those that aroused the most interest in 2014, a historic building a Covent Garden that mysteriously floats in the air (photos 4-5-6).
The work is called 'Take my Lightning but Don't steal my Thunder', and is the result of hard work 500 hours to paint the 12-meter-long structure, made of expanded polystyrene welded to a 14-ton steel structure.
But there are many other spells made by the artist, for example in Margate a mysteriously destroyed red brick building half poured onto the ground (photos 1-2-3).
“I like illusions because they are immediate and immediately catch the eye, al heart and brain giving good sensations. There is no deep meaning behind what I do, but there is certainly a meaning: to give a gift moment of happiness and a smile to those who pass ”, says the artist.
