After the Australian fires, the recovered Koalas go “home” to their eucalyptus trees

Many koalas are finally returning free among the eucalyptus trees after the severe fires that had destroyed much of the biodiversity

"We are delighted to announce that all of our koalas, rescued from the recent bushfires, have been brought back to their homes in Australia's Blue Mountains." To announce it is the Science for Wildlife which for years has been involved in the protection and recovery of wildlife.

Australian fires killed around half a billion mammals, birds and reptiles koala, kangaroos, wombati with their bodies burned and in search of water they had traveled around the world. Once the emergency is over, we are finally back to normal even if the loss of biodiversity will leave its marks for a long time. Eastern Australia has been brought to its knees, luckily many animals have been rescued by wildlife conservation organizations.

“We are happy to finally send our koalas back home. We have already searched many burned areas and conditions have improved to the point that these animals can support themselves, "he explains. Kellie Leigh, executive director of Science for Wildlife.

The koalas have been cared for by all the staff and fed, now they finally return to the eucalyptus forests which fortunately grow quickly.

“They responded well to care and sustenance. The recent rains have also favored the regeneration of nature. We will of course follow and keep an eye on them to make sure they settle down well, ”continues Leigh.
