Why, after a hard day of shellfish hunting, even a tired walrus needs a place to relax. Mammals must have spotted the piece of ice floating in the Chukchi Sea and found the perfect spot. The photographer who captured the scene said he was "surprised" to have found all those walruses massed and relaxing in the open sea. Steven Kazlowski was aboard a single-engine plane when he spotted them. 
“I was sitting in a single-engine plane 20 miles off the coast of Alaska in the Chukchi Sea. I was absolutely surprised when, when I got to the ice floes where there was nothing but open sea, to the west, I saw all those walruses on the ice. It was great, ”said Kazlowski. Mammals ascended and descended from their makeshift islet. Among them a couple were large. The iceberg is a safe place to rest, which acts as a houseboat and moves around the hunting grounds without the animals having to tire.
“It was simply an incredible sight and it was definitely something I had never seen before. I like the effect of the light, the shapes of the ice and the massive amount of walruses. But we kept a safe distance so as not to disturb them, flying over the area a bit before leaving “, concludes the lucky photographer.
