An astonishing lightning bolt recorded in the 2020 US weather forecast was considered the greatest of all time

The lightning in question struck south of the United States on April 29, 2020, covering an impressive distance of 768 km and crossing the Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. This is roughly the distance between London and Hamburg or between New York City and Columbus in Ohio.
The incredible event was recorded in the bulletin of the American Meteorological Society which considered it undoubtedly noteworthy and now the confirmation from the World Metereological Organization which announces on its channels that the lightning bolt of 2020 is without a doubt the biggest ever.

The American lightning bolt broke the record previously held by another electric discharge that occurred on October 31, 2018 in Brazil and which had covered a distance of 709 km. Alongside this recognition, the WMO has also awarded a new natural record for the longest lightning bolt ever, which lasts 17.202 seconds.
