Earache. Those who have tried it know that there are few other ailments that are just as painful and annoying. At the first symptoms of the problem, to prevent it from worsening and degenerating, it is possible to act with some natural remedies. We present 5 of them.

Earache begins mildly at first, and many people make the mistake of ignoring it and thinking it will go away on its own. In reality, it often tends to worsen and in a short time to make the situation difficult to bear due to the severe pain that prevents you from working, doing your usual activities and often even sleeping.

Unfortunately, this is a problem that often affects children who can become agitated, nervous and sleepless due to pain and discomfort.

What to do? Only and exclusively at the first symptoms, when the situation can still be curbed with natural solutions, it is possible to experience the effect of some grandmother's remedies, known and used for some time, easy to find. In all other cases, and especially in the case of children, we recommend that you contact a doctor (preferably ENT) who will evaluate the presence of an otitis to be treated in a completely different way.

In case of mild or moderate earache you can try the following natural remedies:

Garlic

The antibiotic powers of garlic are now known to all, as well as its analgesic effect (relieves pain). It is therefore a first choice natural remedy for earache. The simplest way to take advantage of its benefits in this regard is to peel a few cloves of garlic, let them rest for five or ten minutes (this increases their allicin content), then squeeze them to extract the juice. This should be placed in a small glass container and used with the dropper in order to place two or three in the affected ear, leave on for ten minutes, then slide off.

Onion

The onion is also rich in active ingredients useful against ear pain, it is in fact endowed with antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory power. Just like garlic it is a simple and inexpensive remedy that we always have available at home. You can extract the onion juice by simply squeezing a quarter, then wrap the result in a clean cotton cloth and hold it over the ear for 10 minutes 2 or 3 times a day.

Heat

Even simple heat can relieve earache, this helps to counteract inflammation and to recover sooner, especially if the discomfort is due to a plug of earwax or a stagnation of water. The compress should be done with a warm cloth or a heated pad (those that can be used both hot and cold) to be dabbed on the sore ear for about 20 minutes, repeating 2 or 3 times a day. You can also try a cloth (or a sock) with warm salt inside.

Ginger

If the cause of earache is an infection, ginger may be a suitable remedy. In fact, it has antibacterial qualities but is also anti-inflammatory and analgesic. It can be used in much the same way as garlic: you have to squeeze the juice from the fresh ginger root and add a few drops into the ear twice a day or grate a teaspoon of fresh ginger in a tablespoon of olive oil and leave infuse for 20 minutes. After the time has elapsed, heat the oil slightly and then add a few drops into the ear affected by the problem.

Olive oil

This was our grandmothers' favorite natural remedy for earache. Olive oil provides quick pain relief by lubricating the ear canal and helping to treat any possible infection. Furthermore, the fact that it is used lukewarm also helps to break up hardened earwax which, in some cases, can be the cause of earache. In a skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil until lukewarm then use a dropper to place 2 or 3 in the sore ear when lying down. Leave the oil on for at least ten minutes before letting it slide off. Repeat this twice a day.
