Federico Blanc's kayak
With great dedication, the young Argentine ventured into the construction of this small boat, using as the main element of the big blue bottles. The first test took place at Villa Elisa in Argentina. The construction of the kayak also served to sensitize local school children to the importance of recycling.
The Fijian boat
The one created by Tom Davies, a New Zealander native of Fiji, is a real boat made with 600 ml plastic bottles. The hull measures 4,5 meters and is 1,4 wide. All the bottles were glued together through a special foam, placed at the base. After carrying out some tests, Tom proudly stated that the boat can accommodate up to three adults. Davies' idea, however, goes beyond simple reuse. The aim is to collect the bottles that dirty the beaches and at the same time to preserve the bamboo.
The PVC catamaran
Made entirely using 12.500 bottles of PVC, the Plastiki catamaran is an old acquaintance of ours, which has become the protagonist of a historic enterprise: a ocean crossing which, from San Francisco, took him three months later to Sydney Harbor.

Recipe for DIY kayaking or canoeing
To make it you need: wire mesh, plastic bottles (the number depends on the size of your kayak), waterproof fabric, waste materials of wood, plastic or metal (cans, hooks, old tools, and any other scrap, but also pieces of furniture and furnishings in wood, adhesive tape, rope, glue and scissors ... and here it is step by step how to build this little single-seater.
